In “It’s a Deal”, a look back reveals that fan-favorite personality Alastor, the Radio Demon was a mass murderer in his mortal days. Being aware he was destined for Hell, he established communication with the realm beyond beforehand to secure a strong position there. Rosie, who leads the cannibal faction in Hell, promised Alastor he would become “the strongest Condemned Soul in Hell” in return for his eternal spirit.

This raises an important query: How is this character sufficiently strong to raise Alastor above all other Sinner Demons?

“The Rosie and Alastor deal is the initial building block in a much bigger story that encompasses a great deal, moving into the third season,” the showrunner explains. “Obviously that is a perfect question: How is she that powerful? The solution might be various factors, but the answer is in season three. I am thrilled for people to see it.”

It is uncertain how long the audience will have to remain for Hazbin Hotel’s third season. The production companies have green-lit seasons 3 and 4, but the creator frequently remarks that animated production is a slow, lengthy process, and later seasons have no release dates yet. Still, she says holding off on specific information is a crucial aspect of keeping season 2’s attention in the right places.

“The challenge of any agreement with infernal beings, or stories that have mysteries, is providing people sufficient clues to be like, Something's up here, and then revealing that as we go, and letting that be gratifying,” she says. “So I am quite eager.”

Mysteries Resolved in Season 3

The creator assures that the upcoming season will tackle the questions followers have been asking, like why the cannibal leader commanded Alastor to vanish for seven years, which weakened his power in Hell.

“The entire seven-year span, and the pacts these humans are doing, and all that — it contributes to a bigger narrative,” she reveals.

In the meantime, the origin story episode provides another glimpse into how the main characters of Sinner Demons appeared as as mortals, the second after viewing another character's historical human form in the second episode. She explains that significant consideration went into the visual creation of these forms.

“The human versions of these personas carry great significance,” she notes. “They vary from looking quite distinct from their infernal version to looking very similar. With the first character, the first one we see, there was some internal discussion within the team between choosing something that represents the character, as opposed to selecting something that's historically correct. We opted for creating something that just felt like it was him.”

She says the primary controversy over Pentious’ human design was his lengthy locks: “We were like, ‘Nobody typically had long hair of that style in that historical period.’ But at the same time, we believe the silhouette is so important, and we also just thought he appeared attractive. We were like, ‘This just feels right.’ We kind of gave the excuse that he's a hermit, so he just let his hair grow out. So there is always a solution. As we create the human versions of these characters […] it's such a fun thing to explore and figure out. I am looking forward for people to view additional of what the human forms look like.”
