The New England Patriots matched their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they overcame division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019

Quarterback Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 of 34 passes

The win extends the Patriots advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after slipping to two wins and eight losses

The opposing team had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to cap the Jets' opening drive

But the New England responded in the second period as the rookie scored two short rushing scores before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to make it 21 to 7

"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on the rookie. "He aims to be great."

Fields threw to John Metchie toward the end of the third period to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side wrapped up the victory
