The athlete recorded her personal best of 1:54.61 last year in the British capital.

The Olympic champion concluded her 800m season with a win at the all-female Athlos event in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic champion, who earned third place at the global championships last month, excelled in an outstanding win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season affected by a hamstring injury.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Bell finished second once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this season so it was probably less of a struggle for me to compete and want to give it something," stated the 23-year-old.

"The environment out there is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive event packed the stadium in its second year, introducing a party atmosphere to conventional athletics, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena Williams, who is married to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their tiaras.

Previous champions received sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The competition also attracted several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and global record breaker Faith K. won the mile, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from last year's Paris Olympics, won the 100m and 200m double.
