Around 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, bringing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Broad Destruction

Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to address the extensive power failures.

Victoria's Storm Challenges

Simultaneously, nearly one thousand households in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

Rescue organizations received 598 emergency reports across the area, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

• Wyndham area - nearly 180 help reports

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential anticipated across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical Alert

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
