One senior officer who rushed to the aid of a partner that was assaulted by a knife attacker was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a weapon to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a road collision in that location in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Officer attacked," the officer could be heard saying over his communication device.

Bodyworn and dashcam footage shared by the force revealed Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.

He ran into the officer who tripped and fell to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the ground although being repeatedly struck with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a open target, ending the struggle to an finish.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide assistance on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell sustained multiple deep cuts to his neck and additional cuts to his limbs and torso, whereas Sgt Foster suffered cut injuries.

The department reported Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his partner's blood loss before paramedics came.

The latest award follows after the three officers were granted departmental Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area union branch in April 2024.

They further earned a Regional Bravery Award in mid-2024.

"The actions of the entire team ultimately saved themselves and ensured no members of the public experienced any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, per authorities.
